The ceremony involved with naming a ship is as old as… well, since humans first built a ship! Every culture has its version of the ceremony, some elaborate and some simple. Many are based in religion of some sort, asking the powers that be to keep a vessel safe throughout her time on the waters. We all have seen somewhere some well-dressed person or persons smashing a bottle against the hull of a ship. But what is it like to attend a ceremony like this? What really happens?
Recently, Elizabeth was invited to the naming ceremony for the new Celebrity Apex, and before that, she also got to experience the ceremony for the Symphony of the Seas, and she and I experienced the naming of the Norwegian Encore. So now with a few of these events under her belt, we thought we would find out what she observed and experienced!
